At Miele, we are establishing a modern observability platform and telemetry ecosystem across applications, infrastructure, and customer-facing digital services. We are looking for a senior platform engineer who can architect and potentially own Miele’s observability platform from the ground up and evolve it into a scalable, company-wide capability.
This is not a pure delivery role. We are seeking someone who combines hands-on engineering excellence, platform thinking, and the ability to enhance and scale an enterprise-grade observability platform.
What will you do:
As a Lead Observability Platform Engineer, you will take a leading role in designing, implementing, and advancing Miele’s observability platform and operating model. You will:
- Define and drive the technical vision for observability across applications, infrastructure, and customer-facing services
- Own the observability platform as a product, including reliability, scalability, lifecycle management, and operational excellence
- Provide self-service capabilities, templates, standards, and enablement for engineering teams
- Design and implement scalable solutions for logs, metrics, traces, APM, RUM, and search
- Build and evolve telemetry pipelines, dashboards, alerts, detections, and integrations for internal stakeholders
- Contribute to adjacent domains such as security analytics, SIEM, XDR, and threat detection use cases
- Standardize and automate platform deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management
- Lead the onboarding of new use cases and drive the consolidation of existing monitoring and observability tooling
- Work closely with engineers, architects, security specialists, service owners, and vendors to deliver robust and future-ready solutions
- Translate business and operational needs into measurable technical outcomes such as SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, reliability indicators, and actionable insights
- Run technical evaluations, PoCs, and vendor assessments, ensuring decisions balance scalability, cost, flexibility, and data constraints
- Establish engineering standards, telemetry governance, and operational best practices to ensure scalable platform adoption across teams
- Evolve the observability platform as an internal product focused on reliability, usability, adoption, and engineering enablement
Why this role matters
This role is part of a strategic transformation to establish a unified observability and monitoring capability across Miele. The goal is not simply to implement tools, but to create an end-to-end ecosystem that turns telemetry data into operational intelligence, enabling engineering teams to operate reliable, measurable and observable services resulting in better customer experience.
You will play a key role in building the technical foundation for operational intelligence, reliability engineering, and digital experience monitoring across the organization.
About you
You have a strong platform engineering mindset and enjoy building scalable observability ecosystems that cover telemetry pipelines, monitoring, alerting, search, and digital experience monitoring.
What you bring
- Several years of experience in a senior engineering role such as Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer, SRE, Platform Engineer, or Security Engineer
- Strong experience with observability platforms.
- Exposure to tools such as Splunk, Elastic, Dynatrace, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, or similar platforms
- Experience with search, data pipelines, ingestion, retention, and analytics
- Understanding of telemetry cost, governance, sampling, and optimization
- Experience working with cloud platforms, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, and distributed systems
- Scripting or automation skills in Python, Ruby, or similar languages
- Familiarity with APM, RUM, synthetic monitoring, alerting, incident management, and ITSM integrations
- Experience defining and measuring SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, and monitoring KPIs
- Experience in vendor evaluation, technical PoCs, and platform selection processes
- Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and business stakeholders
- A proactive, analytical, and growth-oriented mindset
What makes you successful
The right person for this role combines strong platform engineering capabilities with deep technical expertise and long-term strategic thinking. You will connect business outcomes with engineering decisions, design scalable systems, and enable teams through automation, self-service capabilities, and clear operational standards.
Most importantly, you care about impact: building an observability capability that improves reliability, efficiency, transparency, and decision-making across the organization.
